Today, I’m going to share with you the best tips for selling on Poshmark. Poshmark has over 50 million users on the platform and continues to grow everyday. 50 Million users is great, but did you know that only 5 Million of those users are actually sellers only? Imagine having an already established platform with 50 Million users that you can sell directly to?
You may be wondering, that’s great, but how am I going to be a successful Poshmark seller? Is there an inside secret to making money on poshmark? On my website, I’ve talked a lot about side hustles and making money on the side. As I continue to grow my posh closet and add more money to my bottom line every month, I can see how selling on poshmark can be turned into a full time job.
Today, I crossed my first but not last $1,000 in profits selling on Posh!! Woohoo, one thousand bucks. (You may remember a few weeks ago how I made $305.35 in one weekend selling on Poshmark!) I will continue to set benchmarks to reach new goals and will continue to update this article as I do so. For now, below are all my secret tips and tricks on how to make money on poshmark!
An easy way to separate yourself from the rest of the pact is by taking high quality photos. If someone is shopping online, they are more likely going to purchase your product if you have high quality, clean, bright photos. When you are taking photos of your product, make sure the first photo you post is your strongest photo. Nobody is going to click through the series of photos if your first one isn’t good. From my experience, high quality photos make all the difference.
There are applications you can download as well to brighten up your photos if there isn’t enough light in your house, as well as color balance the photo. In addition, apple has a great iPhone editing system already built in. If you are not sure how to edit your photos, I’ve linked a youtube video with some basic editing techniques. Today, most camera phones are enough to take high quality photos
Customer Service and shipping time is key
The next biggest piece of advice I have to be successful as a Poshmark Seller is customer service is king. Did you know that Poshmark buyers can give you a star rating and leave you a review? In addition to the basics such as answering comments and questions. There is more you can do to stand out. With that being said, I’ve had the best success by wrapping up the product carefully with tissue paper and adding bubble wrap to ensure it doesn’t break in transit. In addition to making sure the package is secure, I add a handwritten note.
Think about a time you ordered a product from a brand that went out of their way to have a great unique experience upon receiving the product. Remember how that made you feel? Now what I do is try to replicate that experience. Wrap the product up nicely, add a personal touch such as a handwritten note, and mail your product asap! Treat poshmark like your own business.
Stick to a niche and upload new items frequently
In my opinion, I think it’s easier to stick to a specific niche or items that you want to sell. That way you can gain a loyal following and when you upload a new item they know what to expect. With that being said, I highly recommend that you upload not only new items frequently, but also make updates to the current items you already have listed.
I found it beneficial to update the items description and add new photos every week if the item isn’t getting much visibility or traction. This will put the product back in front of your audience. In addition every time you make an update, the people who have liked your item get a notification.
The price is right / negotiation
you know directly on the application there is a section you can filter by to see what your item sold for in the past? I use this metric to help me determine what the price should be for my item I’m posting. After I do market research then I tend to price the item a few dollars more knowing that the buyer is most likely going to negotiate.
That brings me to my next point which is negotiation. I always tell people never flat out reject the offer, but counter with an offer with a price you’d be willing to take. If you flat out reject someone, they might get discouraged and never come back to your closet again. At least when you negotiate, there is a higher chance of them accepting your offer and being a repeat customer, if they are happy.
Party like a rockstar & Sharing is caring
Did you know that Poshmark has 4 posh parties a day? What is a posh party you may be wondering? Well everyday there is a notification for a posh party you can join. Of course, you might not fall into every category party, but for reference I sell beauty products and they have one every couple days. When you attend these parties you have shoppers and sellers who only cater to that category.
In addition to these posh parties there is a way to share items from other people’s closets. When you share an item you are sharing it with your following. I always say that if you get shared by someone, it’s posh etiquette (not required of course) but to share something back. These shares have helped me sell items since I got exposure to their followers as well by the share.
